Recently, Marriott International officially announced the signing of an agreement with Shanghai North Bund Landmark Development Co., Ltd. to bring Ritz-Carlton Reserve to Shanghai's North Bund — the ultra-luxury brand's first urban project worldwide, introducing a new "Urban Reserve" hospitality concept.

While Ritz-Carlton Reserve has traditionally been found in secluded islands and valleys, this Shanghai project breaks the mold. Nestled in a 480-meter supertall complex at the North Bund, it carves out a tranquil retreat within the bustling heart of the city.

The hotel will offer around 110 rooms and suites, many with direct views of the Huangpu River and sightlines of the Bund and Lujiazui skyline, and is expected to open in 2030.
