Marriott International recently announced the signing of an agreement with Shanghai SICI North Bund New Landmark Construction & Development Co., Ltd., bringing The Ritz‑Carlton Reserve to Shanghai’s North Bund. This marks the ultra‑luxury brand’s very first urban property worldwide, pioneering the new hospitality concept of “Urban Reserve”.

Traditionally, The Ritz‑Carlton Reserve resorts are situated in secluded destinations such as islands and mountain valleys. Breaking the brand’s established site‑selection philosophy, the Shanghai project is located within the 480‑meter super‑high‑rise complex on North Bund, creating a serene retreat in the heart of a bustling metropolis.
 

The hotel is planned to offer around 110 guest rooms and suites. Most units overlook the Huangpu River with unobstructed skyline views of the Bund and Lujiazui. The property is scheduled to open in 2030.
 

Upon completion, Shanghai will become the world’s first city home to all eight luxury brands under Marriott International. Marriott International remains optimistic about the luxury hospitality market in China’s key cities and will keep rolling out premium hospitality offerings tailored to local demands.
